In May, ICCF children with disability broke another INCLUSIVE barrier by celebrating 2020 CHILDREN’S DAY on the 30th May 2020 with 250 children age 3-17 years with distribution of cooked and other palliative gifts foodstuff to children within four communities in Onigbongbo LCDA. This is to show ability in their disability by encouraging social interaction amongst children without disability. The only language the children HEAR & SEE is LOVE. It was a day of fun for all the children sing, dancing and sharing gifts among themselves. Most of the children within these communities have never see nor interacted with children with disability.             At ICCF we believe in’ BREAKING BARRIERS’ to be in an INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT

ICCF STREET TO STREET CHILD ABUSE SENSITIZATION ON GROOMING SIGNS: N3,920,000 FOR 3 MONTHS [SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER,NOVEMBER]

Since the lockdown the rate of Child Abuse has increased; hundreds of most vulnerable children are exposed to extreme poverty and hunger and sexual abuse as a result of the impact of the COVID19 pandemic in Nigeria As number of child abuse increase there is need to scale up on child protection measures. The social media is full of gory stories of violence against children. Many have lost their lives (both boys & girls). It is becoming an epidemic, you will agree with me. In view of this ICCF initiated a sensitization and awareness interactive forum with total 600 children within three LGAs in Lagos state for 3 months, there should be safe and proper protection measure for children. The campaign sensitization commenced in September till November with total number of 600, 200 children each in the LGAS, Pre-teens and Teenagers from ages 8-17years in each LGA to raise more awareness. ‘IT DOES NOT HAVE TO HURT TO BE A CHILD’. The children were given ICCF Child abuse protection wristband, nose mask, hand sanitizer and Child Abuse Story book which was published to help them understand, more information on protection of children from sexual abuse. The event was well planned and safety was our first priority with social distancing, hand sanitizer and face mask for every participants seated at each sensitization training session.

  • IN HANGING OUT WITH BIG MUMMY—IYANIWURA. N350,000

Hanging out with 80 ICCF Children on Saturday 31st October with lots of fun , therapy activities and lots of food and drinks, dancing, film show various games such as Ludo dice board game, memory WHOT game, paintings and drawing, balloon buster game etc. #Jollification#

There is no better place than spending quality time with the Children. LOVE IS THE ONLY LANGUAGE THEY SEE CLEARLY AND HEAR SO LOUDLY.

Part of the therapy games was an oral motor exercise game. It helps the muscles inside of our mouth. This includes the tongue, lips, cheeks, and jaw. They are all parts of our mouth and are tied to tons of muscles, and just like any muscle, it can be strong or weak. Coordinated or not coordinated.

The children need oral motor skills to be able to talk, eat, or drink from a straw. They are not something most of us give much thought to, but they are very important.

   PARENT’S RETREAT.N500,000

Every 3rd December is an international Day of Persons with Disability. It is an observance day, promoted by the United Nations since 1992. In view of the 2020 Celebration ICCF theme is

“NOT ALL DISABILITY ARE VISIBLE”

In commemoration of IDPWD, we remembered the MENTAL STRESS parents and caregivers go through in caring for children with disability.

We organized a recreational event to ease out mental stressor of 100 Parents & Caregivers of children with disability. Lots of caregivers and parents are going through EMOTIONAL TORTURE & MENTAL STRESS. The aim of this event is to celebrate Mothers’ of children with disability in other to applaud them and reduce the mental stressors they go through for their exceptional care and up bring of these Special Kids .These Amazing Mothers’ often experience a higher level of stress through stigmatization as well as isolation from neighbours and community members due to ignorance and poor definition of disability in the cultural setting. All these have emotional, physical, and financial implications on mothers who are mainly the caregivers.

Socialization is one of the effective tips to alleviate stressful circumstances and regulate the emotional consequences. In view of all this resilience parents go through, we have decided to applaud them and celebrate their amazing work.

As part of the event is a raffle draw tickets in which lucky parents benefitted following:

  • Two lucky parents won the raffle draw for a Weekend accommodation, feeding & other luxury care at Regents Hotel, GRA Ikeja.
